If the capacity to craft complex narratives, pass down cultural information, and create abstract representations far predates urban civilization, we cannot assume the earliest written myths mark the absolute beginning of those traditions. They may represent the visible end products of a much longer cultural history.

Current scientific data does not allow us to answer in the affirmative. But we can formulate the question.
Perhaps that is the true purpose of an interdisciplinary inquiry: not to turn a speculative possibility into an immediate certainty, but to determine what evidence would be required to see if that possibility deserves to survive.
The old narrative suggested that roughly 50,000 years ago, a sudden event transformed Homo sapiens into modern humans. Accumulated evidence shows that model is oversimplified.
Today we know that:
- Homo sapiens is far older than previously thought.
- Technological capabilities emerged much earlier.
- Symbolic behavior has deep prehistoric roots.
